Play Therapy
Play therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play to help children express emotions, resolve conflicts, and develop coping skills in a safe and supportive environment. Play therapy allows the child leads the way and is offered use of play materials such as sand play, arts, games, music, movement activities, role-play, clay and messy play.
Dramatherapy
Dramatherapy is a creative form of psychotherapy. It utilises drama techniques and tools such as: stories, character work, role play, puppetry, mask work, drawing, drama games, etc; all of which help clients to express themselves and work through any issues in a creative way. Working in metaphor through these creative outlets, provides an aesthetic distance between the client and their material, ensuring they work in a safe and contained way.
Art Therapy
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative processes like drawing or painting to help individuals express emotions and improve mental well-being. It allows people to explore their feelings in a non-verbal way, guided by a trained therapist.

Funded counselling at Hertfordshire Mind Network
Some children and young people who find it easier to understand and express themselves through talking directly with a trained counsellor, than by using creative art forms, such as play or drama therapies may find counselling more suitable for their needs.
Find out more about Hertfordshire Mind Network’s counselling funded by Hertfordshire’s Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services (Herts CYPMHS) at the link below:

If you’re still unsure, please don’t worry! As part of the assessment process, ourselves and Hertfordshire Mind Network (counselling provider) will consider which type of therapy would be most suitable for a child or young person’s needs.
